Screenless fitness band: where NEXTBODY Hoop fits
People comparing WHOOP, Oura and other screenless trackers usually want sleep, recovery and load without a watch face. This page places NEXTBODY Hoop on that map using only numbers and limits already published on nextbody.ai.
Who this category is for
A screenless band is a wrist tracker that keeps the display in a phone app. HOOP is one of those: no screen on the device, data in the NEXTBODY App. It is a fit if you want the following, and a poor fit if you want a watch face or a clinical instrument.
- You would rather not wear a screen on your wrist for sleep and all-day tracking.
- You care about sleep staging, a readiness score and a daily training-load number — as wellness references, not medical advice.
- You may want an optional chat over your own account via MCP, instead of living only in dashboards.
HOOP at a glance
Every cell below cites a live page. Weight-chart numbers are strap-off measurements from the homepage. This is not a clinical accuracy claim, and it is not “better than DEXA”.
| Spec | NEXTBODY Hoop | Source on this site |
|---|---|---|
| Thickness | 8mm device body, without the strap | Homepage weight section |
| Weight | 10g device body, without the strap. Homepage chart (strap-off): HOOP 10g, WHOOP 12.08g, Xiaomi Band 10 Pro 21.64g, Apple Watch 31.81g, Apple Watch Ultra 61.77g | Homepage weight section |
| Battery | 5 days per charge under specific test conditions; real life varies | Pricing |
| Water | IP68. Hand-washing, rain, sweat and shallow-water pool use: yes. Diving, hot showers, saunas: no. Not permanent. | Homepage FAQ / notes |
| Body Scan | Bioimpedance (BIA). About 30 seconds. 14 body-composition estimates. Not a medical diagnosis. | Homepage Body Scan |
| Sleep | Deep / light / REM staging. Score out of 100 from seven HOOP-weighted factors. Not a clinical scale. | Homepage FAQ / notes |
| Readiness and load | Readiness 0–100. Training load 0–21. Algorithm estimates for reference only; not the same as WHOOP Strain or Recovery. | Homepage FAQ / notes |
| Published price | $59.99 USD hardware price on the pricing page (Cloud White or Charcoal Black). This page does not claim every future App feature will stay free of a subscription. | Pricing |
| MCP | Optional connector so a signed-in assistant can read your own account. Not HIPAA or clinical AI. | MCP note |
The “lightest” line on the homepage is that strap-off chart, not a lab ranking of every wearable. Other products’ weights can vary by model and batch.
How it differs (neutral tradeoffs)
The useful question is not “which brand wins”. It is which tradeoff you want: a subscription-first band, a ring, a screen-on watch, or a screenless band with a published hardware price. Third-party names below are descriptive. They do not imply partnership or endorsement, and this page does not list other brands’ prices.
Versus a subscription-first band (WHOOP)
WHOOP is the name people use when they want a screenless wrist band focused on strain, recovery and sleep, usually with a membership as the commercial model. HOOP is also a screenless wrist band, and it publishes a $59.99 hardware price on /pricing/. That is a different commercial shape — not a promise that HOOP copies WHOOP’s Strain or Recovery algorithms, and not a claim that HOOP will never charge for a future App feature. Readiness (0–100) and training load (0–21) on HOOP are HOOP’s own estimates.
Versus a ring (Oura)
Oura is a ring. HOOP is a wrist band. A ring leaves the wrist free and has no Body Scan on HOOP’s terms; a band can run a finger-to-band BIA scan and may feel different during sleep or lifting. The product site reports one same-person, same-night wear with an Oura Ring: 99.5% agreement on total sleep (awake time excluded). That is a single anecdote, not a clinical study, and other nights will differ. HOOP’s sleep-score weights draw on Oura’s published sleep factors but are HOOP’s own rules — not Oura’s algorithm.
Versus a smartwatch with a screen
A watch keeps apps and glances on the wrist. HOOP keeps the screen in the phone. The homepage weight chart places an Apple Watch at 31.81g and Apple Watch Ultra at 61.77g without straps, against HOOP at 10g — only to show device-body weight, not to rank features or accuracy.
Body Scan callout
Body Scan uses bioimpedance. You hold the side key for about 30 seconds. The App then shows 14 estimated metrics (fat, muscle, water, protein, bone and related values) from impedance plus the height, weight, age and sex you entered. Weight is typed in, not measured by the band. Results can differ from a smart scale or DEXA and are for long-term trends, not diagnosis.
Do not use Body Scan if you have a pacemaker, implantable defibrillator or other implanted electronic medical device. It is not recommended during pregnancy, with metal implants, or on broken or inflamed skin.
FAQ
Is HOOP a medical device?
No. Neither the HOOP band nor the NEXTBODY App is a medical device, and neither is meant to diagnose, treat, cure or prevent any disease. Heart rate, SpO2, HRV, skin temperature, sleep, body composition, readiness, training load and related tips are for everyday wellness only, not medical decisions. If you feel unwell, see a doctor.
Can I swim or shower with HOOP?
HOOP is rated IP68 for dust and water. Wear it for hand-washing, rain, sweat and shallow-water activities such as pool swimming. It's not for diving, high-board jumps, hot showers, hot springs, saunas or high-speed water. Rinse with fresh water and dry after sea or pool use. Don't run Body Scan in water or with wet skin. Nylon straps take a while to dry, and staying damp can irritate skin. Water resistance isn't permanent and may decline over time.
Does one charge really last 5 days?
Five days comes from specific test conditions. Real battery life varies with tracking settings, workout time, how often you scan or measure, sync frequency and temperature, and capacity declines gradually over time.
Is connecting ChatGPT, Claude or other AI (MCP) safe?
You sign in and authorise it yourself, and the assistant can only read your own account's data. Meal logging is off by default; when on, the AI confirms the food, portion and time with you before saving. Once data is sent to a third-party AI service, that service's privacy policy applies, so decide for yourself. The assistant's analysis and advice are for reference only, not medical, nutrition or training prescriptions. A longer note is at /blog/nextbody-mcp/.
Is the NEXTBODY App available today?
The product FAQ lists support for iPhone on iOS 17 or later and Android 9 or later. The /app/ page currently marks store badges as coming soon and does not publish a launch date. Some features depend on the App version actually shipped.
Who shouldn't use Body Scan?
Do not use Body Scan if you have a pacemaker, implantable defibrillator or other implanted electronic medical device. It's not recommended during pregnancy, with metal implants, or on broken or inflamed skin, where results may also be inaccurate.
